When was .Mac HomePage discontinued?
The HomePage web application went offline on July 7, 2009. As of that date, members are unable to create new pages or edit pages you have already published.

Can friends and family still view my published pages after July 7, 2009?
Yes, any sites you have created with HomePage will remain viewable at their existing web address unless you delete them, for as long as you are an active MobileMe member.

What should I use for creating my own website?
iWeb (iLife ’08 or later version) is recommended, which comes on your Mac, and enables you to create a custom website and publish it directly to MobileMe. iWeb provides Apple-designed templates for creating photo pages, blogs, travel sites, and more. Please read this article for instructions on moving HomePage movies to iWeb.

What should I use for sharing photos and movies?
MobileMe Gallery is recommended to quickly and easily share photos in an online gallery directly from iPhoto (iLife ’08 and iLife ’09 versions), from the web at www.me.com, or directly from your iPhone. You can also share movies on MobileMe Gallery directly from iMovie (iLife ’08 and iLife ’09 versions) or an iPhone 3GS. Please read these instructions on moving HomePage photos and movies to MobileMe Gallery.

What should I use for sharing documents?
Simply upload a file you want to share to your iDisk. Then, log in to www.me.com/idisk, select the file, and click Share File.

Can I access the content on my pages such as photos and movies after July 7, 2009?
Yes. The HTML files that make up your site can be found in the “Sites” folder on your iDisk. Any pictures or movies you have used for your pages can be found in the iDisk folders where they reside (for example: "Pictures," "Movies," or another folder). You must remain an active MobileMe member to access your iDisk.

Can I still delete my published pages?
Yes. To delete a published page, first visit the page, and note the website address.  For example:
http://homepage.mac.com/membername/PhotoAlbum1.html
If that is the address of the page you wish to delete, go to www.me.com/idisk, and open the Sites folder.  Locate the file named PhotoAlbum1.html and delete it.  That will remove the page, and you and others will no longer be able to visit the page.

If you had multiple sites in Homepage, the website address for the page may look like:
http://homepage.mac.com/membername/CoolPictures/PhotoAlbum1.html
In that case, go to www.me.com/idisk, open the Sites folder, and then open the CoolPictures folder.  Locate the file named PhotoAlbum1.html, and delete it.  That will remove the page, and you and others will no longer be able to visit the page.
Note: Deleting pages will not update the navigation bar available on other pages.

Can I still edit my pages that were published with Homepage?
Pages that were published by Homepage can be edited, but have to be done manually.  To edit the page, first visit the page, and note the website address.  For example:
http://homepage.mac.com/membername/PhotoAlbum1.html
If that is the address of the page you wish to edit:

  1. Connect to your iDisk.
  2. Open the Sites folder, and locate the PhotoAlbum1.html file
  3. Use a Text Editor or other HTML editor to modify the file.  (You may want to back up the file first in case you want to undo any changes).  iWeb can not be used to edit existing HTML files.

If you had multiple sites in Homepage, the website address for the page may look like:
http://homepage.mac.com/membername/CoolPictures/PhotoAlbum1.html
In that case, follow the steps above, but after opening the Sites folder, open the CoolPictures to locate the PhotoAlbum1 folder.

I published content to homepage.mac.com using my own HTML editor and it's located in the Sites folder of my iDisk.  Do I need to do anything?
No. Any content located in your Sites folder (including published HomePage pages), will remain after July 7, and will still be editable with third party HTML editors.

Can I change the password of my password protected Homepages?
No, the password settings for password protected Homepages can not be changed.

Does this affect any other part of the old mac.com domain, like my email address @mac.com, or any items I have published to a mac.com URL?
No. Email addresses @mac.com and any items published or shared to a mac.com URL are unaffected by this change and will continue working uninterrupted after July 7.
