About EFI firmware updates for Xserve

Summary

If you are updating the EFI firmware on an Xserve and have already downloaded and installed the updater, use this procedure.

Xserve (Late 2006), Xserve (Early 2008)

  1. Locate Xserve EFI Firmware Update.app (in /Applications/Utilities) and double-click it.
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Note: Firmware updates cannot be applied on a computer which starts up from a software RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) volume. If you are starting up from a software RAID volume, you must start up from a storage device other than a software RAID volume to apply this update.
