Lion Server: Default website unreachable after adding second website
After adding a second website, the default website can no longer be loaded. Web-based services such as wikis and profile manager maybe unreachable as well.
There are several important considerations when using virtual web hosting:
- The web service will respond to requests based upon the server's ip address the request was received on before the domain name or URL requested is considered.
- Web based services are only accessible through the default, wildcard site. Services such as Profile Manager will still be running, but unreachable if a second website is assigned to the server's only ip address in the Server.app's web section.
- Additional information regarding virtual web hosting can be viewed at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/vhosts/.
When using name based virtual web hosting, set each domain IP address to "any" in the Server.app web section.
