How to adjust audio gaps between songs in an album

In order to make individual tracks available for sale on the iTunes Store, songs are separated by the record label at the time of encoding. You can choose to hear your music fade smoothly between songs, without any gaps of silence. By default, Crossfade Playback is turned on.

You can choose to hear your music fade smoothly between songs, without any gaps of silence. By default, Crossfade Playback is turned on.

  1. From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences (Windows: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences), then click the Playback button at the top of the window.
  2. To hear songs fade in and out, select Crossfade Playback.
  3. To decrease or increase the amount of time it takes for the current song to fade out at the end and the new song to fade in, drag the "seconds" slider left or right.

Note: If you set the slider to 0 seconds, songs play without fading between songs so there is no gap between tracks.
