Archived - iPhoto: How do I change the theme or type of my book, card, or calendar?

If you would like to change the theme of your book, card, or calendar but are concerned that the change may affect your images and text, you can make a duplicate copy of your project and make your changes to the copy. You can compare the modified version to the original copy to see if any data was lost.

To make a duplicate book, card, or calendar:

  1. In iPhoto, Control-click the item you would like to duplicate in the Source column on the left. From the shortcut menu, select Duplicate. You can also select the item to duplicate from the Source list and press Command-D.
  2. Click the Themes icon in the bottom-left of the iPhoto window (or on the top-right with iPhoto ’11). You may receive a message that text may be lost. Click OK.
  3. Browse the various themes and templates for your book, card, or calendar and make your selection. You can also change the cover type of your book.

Be sure to preview your selection before you place your order to confirm that all your text and images are how you want them to appear in print.

Tip: Select the same Theme when you change book types to minimize missing text. Verify your font settings when you change Themes as previous settings may switch to their default settings.
