Before you begin

  1. You must know the base station password.
  2. You must be connecting to the base station from either a Mac (If you are running Mac OS 9, see document 58574 instead) or a Windows PC (Windows XP or Windows 2000).
  3. Windows users must have the latest version of AirPort Admin Utility for Windows.

Getting the password

Follow these steps if using the AirPort Admin Utility:

  1. Open AirPort Admin Utility, in Mac OS X from Applications/Utilities or in Windows from the Start Menu > All Programs > AirPort.
  2. Select your base station from the list.
  3. Click Configure.
  4. When prompted, enter the password for your base station.
  5. Click the Password icon at the top of the window.

A window appears with the network equivalent password for your base station.

 

Follow these steps if using the AirPort Utility:

  1. Open AirPort Utility, in Mac OS X from Applications/Utilities or in Windows from the Start Menu > All Programs > AirPort.
  2. Select your base station from the list.
  3. Manually configure your base station (press Command-L or selecting Manual Setup from the Base Station menu).
  4. Select Equivalent Network Password from the Base Station menu.
  5. Highlight the text in the dialog window to copy and paste.
