Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express: Application-specific key functions with the aluminum Apple Keyboard (2007)
Summary
The aluminum Apple Keyboard (2007) includes additional media keys and newly-labeled keys which may seem to replace the functionality of certain application-specific function keys, such as the F10 function "Overwrite Edit" in Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express.

Products Affected
Final Cut Express, Final Cut Pro
To restore the F keys to their original functions, open System Preferences and select Keyboard & Mouse. Select the Keyboard tab and enable the option "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys". Pressing F10 will now perform the function "Overwrite Edit" in Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express as expected.
You can also use the F keys to perform application-specific functions without making this change in System Preferences. Press and hold the Function modifier key (Fn) while pressing an F key. For instance, press Fn and F10 together in Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express to perform the "Overwrite Edit" function. For more information on the new Apple Keyboards (2007) read this article.
Note: For both of these options you first may need to change your Exposé shortcuts to use some F keys to perform application-specific functions. Open System Preferences and select Exposé & Spaces to change Exposé default keys.
