iOS: Hotmail, Live, or MSN email accounts

Follow these steps to set up your Hotmail, Live, or MSN account on your iOS device with iOS 5 and later.

  1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account… > Windows Live Hotmail.
  2. Enter your email address in the email field.
  3. Enter your password in the password field and tap Next.
  4. Choose the account items you would like to sync and then tap Save.

Additional Information

If you are using Hotmail on multiple computers or devices and stop receiving mail on a device, you may need to validate the device with Hotmail. To do this, log in to your Hotmail account from another computer or device and check for an email from Hotmail with instructions.

How to set up your Hotmail, Live, or MSN account on your device using an iOS version earlier than iOS 5

  1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account… > Microsoft Exchange.
  2. Enter your email address in both the Email and Username fields.
  3. You can leave the Domain field blank.
  4. Enter your password in the password field and tap Next.
  5. Enter m.hotmail.com in the server field and tap Next.
  6. Choose the account items you would like to sync and then tap Save.

Note: If you receive a username or password error after setting up the account, verify that your settings are correct.
