Nike + iPod: Sensor not recognized by receiver
Summary
If you see the Nike+iPod menu on the iPod nano Main menu but the receiver does not link with the sensor, try the following steps:
Products Affected
Nike + iPod Sport Kit, iPod nano
- Verify your iPod nano has the latest version of iPod nano Software. If it's not version 1.2 or later, download the latest version and update your iPod nano.
- Verify computer has latest iTunes software (this should be iTunes 6.0.5 or later).
- If the receiver is connected to your iPod nano, disconnect it.
- Visually inspect the iPod nano dock connector and the Nike + iPod Receiver for foreign debris/matter.
- Go to the Main menu on the iPod nano.
- Connect the Nike + iPod Receiver to the iPod nano.
- If the Nike+iPod menu item does not appear, see "Nike + iPod: Receiver not recognized by iPod nano" for more information.
- If the Nike+iPod menu item appears in the Main menu, choose Nike+iPod > History to see if the battery is reported as low.
- If the battery is not low, make sure the sensor is not in sleep mode. Remove the sensor from the shoe and use a pen or stylus to press the Sleep/Wake button once to wake the sensor.
- Place the sensor back in the shoe and walk around to activate the sensor so the receiver can detect it.
- If the issue persists and you have access to another sensor, link it to your receiver. If you can link the new sensor to the receiver, service the first sensor. For more information about linking the receiver to another sensor see "Nike + iPod: Link receiver to another sensor" for more information.
