This update will appear in Software Update. It also can be download from Apple Downloads.

Be sure to plug your MacBook Air into an AC power adapter before you start. 

  • If downloaded via Software Update, the update will be installed in /Applications/Utilities and labeled MacBook Air Bluetooth Firmware Update.app. It will automatically start.
  • If manually downloaded via Safari, Safari will notify you that there is an application in the image. Click OK to continue.
    • If "Open safe files after downloading" is checked in Safari preferences, a disk image appears on your desktop.
    • If not, you'll need to locate MacBookAirBluetoothUpdate in your Downloads folder and double-click it to mount the image.
  1. Double-click the disk image to open it, then double-click MacBookAirBluetoothUpdate.pkg to install the updater in /Applications/Utilities. It will start automatically after it installs. Follow the onscreen instructions to update your firmware.
  2. Wait for the firmware update process to complete; it could take up to a minute. Do not restart, sleep, or power off your computer during the update process.
  3. When the update is successfully installed, you will see a "Your computer's Bluetooth firmware is up to date" message.
