Summary

The Nike + iPod Sport Kit includes the Nike + iPod Receiver and the Nike + iPod Sensor. The sensor contains a non-replaceable battery. The sensor’s battery has a life of more than 1000 active hours. The sensor has a sophisticated built-in power management system which means that the sensor really only consumes power when active (that is, when it senses motion).

The sensor sends a low battery signal when there is approximately 2 weeks of life remaining (based on usage pattern), indicating that the sensor needs to be replaced. When this happens, a low battery icon will flash on and off in the Now Running screen:

To check the status of the sensor battery when not working out:

  1. From the Main menu choose Extras > Nike+iPod > History > Totals.
  2. Look for the message "Battery Low" in the Totals screen.
  3. If the “Battery Low” message is displayed, the sensor battery is almost or may have already been completely depleted.
  4. Visit your local Apple retail store for a replacement kit. You will need to replace both the receiver and sensor.
