Learn about Apple Universal Dock
Summary
The Apple Universal Dock is the ultimate iPod or iPhone docking solution. Any iPod with a dock connector or iPhone can fit perfectly into a single Universal Dock through the use of interchangeable inserts called Dock Adapters. The Apple Universal Dock includes five dock adapters that fit iPod nano (3rd generation), iPod classic (80GB, 120 GB, and 160 GB), iPod (5th generation - 30 GB and 80 GB), iPod touch, and iPhone and also includes an Apple Remote.

You simply insert the Dock Adapter that fits your particular iPod or iPhone model, then plug in your iPod or iPhone. If a dock adapter for your iPod or iPhone model isn’t included with your Universal Dock, you can purchase one at the Apple Online Store.

Important :iPod shuffle, iPod (scroll wheel), and iPod (touch wheel) are incompatible with the Apple Universal Dock since these iPod models do not have a dock connector. If you're not sure what iPod model you have, click here. For iPod models with a dock connector, Apple recommends updating to the latest iPod software with the current version of iTunes, available for free download at support.apple.com/downloads/.
