Summary

To remove Boot Camp beta after it has expired is to set the computer clock to a date before the expiration date (which was September 30, 2007) using Date & Time preferences.

Products Affected

iMac (20-inch, Mid 2007), iMac (24-inch Mid 2007), iMac (Mid 2006 17-inch), iMac (Early 2006 17-inch), iMac (24-inch, Late 2006), iMac (17 inch, Flat Panel), Mac OS X 10.4, iMac (20-inch Late 2006), iMac (17-inch, Late 2006 CD), iMac (17-inch, Late 2006), Boot Camp

Note: Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard includes the final release of Boot Camp, Boot Camp 2.0. Do not use these steps if you have upgraded to Mac OS X 10.5 and Boot Camp 2.0. Removing a Windows partition with Boot Camp 2.0 in Leopard is much easier.

  1. Open Date & Time preferences and deselect "Set date & time automatically" if it's checked.
  2. Manually set the clock to a date before September 30, 2007.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Open Boot Camp Assistant Beta (in Applications/Utilities).
  5. Click "Restore the startup disk to a single volume" and click Continue.
  6. Click Restore.
  7. Type in your password and click OK.
  8. Boot Camp Assistant Beta will remove your Windows partition. When finished, click Restart.
  9. Open Date & Time preferences and check "Set date & time automatically" again if you wish to set the clock automatically via the Internet, or manually correct your date settings.
