iMovie ’08: HDV cameras must be set so the output format matches the source material

Summary

All HDV cameras must be set to the proper "output or playback" format which corresponds to the source material on the tape. This is the only way iMovie ’08 can accurately detect the camera's format so that preview and import can work properly.

Products Affected

iMovie '08 (7.x)

Examples

  • If the tape contains DV content, set camera's output to DV.
  • If the tape contains HDV content, set camera's output to HDV.

Note: Setting the camera's output to Auto mode may not work.

See the documentation that came with your camcorder for information on how to set the camera's output.
