Summary

When users or administrators are logged into MDCs, performance degradation may be noticeable on the SAN.

Products Affected

Xsan 2

To avoid excessive load on the MDC, users and administrators should not log into MDCs during conditions of high-load. When an instance of Finder is running on an MDC, filesystem events monitoring may take up a substantial percentage of CPU cycles.

During normal or lower-load operations, this should have no significant impact on SAN performance. During high-load operations, it is advisable to log all user and administrator accounts out of MDCs.
