Pro Applications: Some features do not work if drag installed or if copied following an Archive and Install

Summary

Always install Pro applications such as Final Cut Pro HD, Soundtrack, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Motion, Shake (Qmaster), Logic, and GarageBand from the original discs.

Final Cut Pro programs (including Compressor, LiveType, and Soundtrack Pro) don't open, or quit unexpectedly when opened. This could also happen with DVD Studio Pro, Motion, GarageBand, Logic Pro, and Logic Express.

If you do an Archive and Install or if you upgrade to a larger or different hard drive, reinstall your Pro applications from the original discs.

Audio applications like Logic, GarageBand, Soundtrack, and Soundtrack Pro may lose some functionality and Jam Packs, Apple Loops, and third-party plug-ins may no longer be accessible. Devices that require a MIDI driver will also not work.

Besides reinstalling the application itself, you may need to reinstall plug-ins and copy and reindex Apple Loops. Some copy-protected items may still not function properly after doing this - contact the relevant vendor(s) to re-authorize them. See your application's User Guide for information on manually indexing Apple Loops.

After installing, check for any available updates in the Software Updates pane of System Preferences or search here.
