Lion Server: Additional information about the "Dedicate system resources to server services" setting

Lion Server provides the option to "Dedicate system resources to server services" option in the Settings section of Server.app.

This article has been archived and is no longer updated by Apple.

When you enable this option, the rc.server command script is loaded to tune the system for better server performance.

For additional information about the system parameters being tuned by rc.server, please refer to the man page for rc.server. Type this in Terminal:

man rc.server

When this option is enabled, the server will be more responsive to users whose computers and mobile devices get services from it. The server may be less responsive when you use applications on it directly.
