iTunes for Windows: Text may appear incorrect if font DPI is not set to 96 DPI

In iTunes for Windows, some text may appear cut off, incomplete, or distorted if the Font DPI (Dots Per Inch) setting on your computer is not set to "Normal (96 DPI).

If you are experiencing this issue, the following steps will allow you to configure your fonts to be readable in iTunes.

Note: You may need your Windows install disc if your original Windows installation files are not on your computer's hard drive. If Windows was installed by your computer manufacturer, the files will probably be on your hard drive.

Windows XP

  1. Click on the Start menu, then Control Panel.
  2. Switch to Classic View if you are using Category View.
  3. Double click Display.
  4. Click the Settings tab.
  5. Click the Advanced button.
  6. Click the General Tab.
  7. In the Display section, choose "Normal size (96 DPI)" from the drop-down menu for DPI setting.
  8. Click Apply and then click OK.
  9. You may see a dialogue asking for your Windows install disc, or asking if you want to use the files already on your hard drive. Select the appropriate option for your installation of Windows.
  10. Depending on your settings you might have to restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

Windows Vista

  1. Click the Start Menu.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Search for "Adjust font size"
  4. Choose the DPI Scaling Utility.
  5. Choose "Default scale (96 DPI) - fit more information."
  6. Cick Apply and then click OK.
  7. You may see a dialogue asking for your Windows install disc, or asking if you want to use the files already on your hard drive. Select the appropriate option for your installation of Windows.
  8. Depending on your settings you might have to restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

Windows 7

  1. Click the Start Menu.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Click Appearance and Personalization.
  4. Click Display.
  5. Choose "Smaller - 100% (default)."
  6. Click Apply and then click OK.
  7. You may see a dialogue asking for your Windows install disc, or asking if you want to use the files already on your hard drive. Select the appropriate option for your installation of Windows.
  8. You must log off your computer to apply these changes. Follow the instructions on screen.
