iPhoto and Aperture: Using Photo Stream

My Photo Stream 

My Photo Stream is an iCloud service where you can view your recent photos on all of your devices. This Photo Stream feature requires OS X Lion v10.7.2 (or later) and iPhoto 9.2 (or later) or Aperture 3.2 (or later).

Shared Photo Streams

Shared Photo Streams allow you to share selected photos with people you choose. This Photo Stream feature requires OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 (or later) and iPhoto 9.4 (or later) or Aperture 3.4 (or later).

If you are using an earlier version of iPhoto 9:

  • If you purchased iPhoto on the Mac App Store, or if it was preinstalled on your computer along with OS X Lion (or later) , you can update iPhoto on the Mac App Store.
  • If you installed iPhoto from the iLife ʼ11 DVD, or if it was preinstalled on your computer along with OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.8 (or earlier), you can update iPhoto with Software Update (choose Software Update from the Apple () menu).

    Note: Photo Stream is compatible with OS X Lion v10.7.2 (or later).

If you are using iPhoto 8.x or earlier:

  • You can upgrade to the latest version of iPhoto by purchasing it on the Mac App Store.

If you are using an earlier version of Aperture 3: 

  • If you purchased Aperture on the Mac App Store, you can update Aperture on the Mac App Store.
  • If you purchased the Aperture DVD, you can update Aperture with Software Update (choose Software Update from the Apple () menu).

If you are using Aperture 2.x or earlier:

  • You can upgrade to the latest version of Aperture by purchasing it on the Mac App Store.
